Bringing Hurley Back to Orange County
It has been a very long time since a Hurling team hailed from Orange County, however 2017 seen the club go back in time and start pucking around a sliotar again. Play Hurling played a huge part in encouraging the club and players alike to get back to swinging a Hurl. It is also without doubt that the hunger from our footballers who hail from Tyrone, Waterford, Kilkenny and many other hurling counties around Ireland that made the club even more determined to make our hurling team a success.
Like our mens and ladies teams, our hurling team entered into the San Diego 7s Tournament on memorial weekend and came out celebrating and down the road with a cup. This was the first time for the Wild Geese to ever enter a mens hurling team into this tournament, without doubt to come away as champions was a massive achievement for the players, the management and the club as a whole.
After a successful first year of setting the team up, we only hope to increase the numbers of players, competitions we partake in and grow our sport in Southern California. 2018 is already looking to be a promising year for the club with the launch of the Romey White Hurling championship, which will consist of three games between the OC Wild Geese and St Peters San Diego.
